The Land No Man Can See

The glowing of amber have since died away,
The pets curled asleep by the ashes;
Mama and Papa are deep in their slumber,
Dreaming in rainbow-hued flashes.
I creep to the doorway … calm, yet excited,
Drawn by the songs of the loon.
Across the rose garden, my feet fly with gladness,
My path brightly lit by the moon.
At the edge of the forest, the darkness creeps closer,
As do the songs of the trees ~
The music of magick, of melody fair,
In this land that no man can see.
His hair, thick and shiny, blew softly around Him,
His pipes sang in time with His moves.
The horns on His head, they did glisten with dew,
And He danced by the tip of His hooves.
He summoned the creatures that roamed through the woods,
The flowers, the waters, the stone.
He beckoned the Lady, “Come hither, my love,
My Maiden, my Mother, my Crone”.
I watched them in wonder and childish delight
As they danced near the mighty oak tree.
For tonight is the night of much blessings and joy
In this land that no man can see.

Through the thick forest a light did aglow,
A beacon that tore through the night.
“Hark!”, said my Lord, “They arrive in the mist.”
And we bowed to the shimmering light.
The wolves they fell silent, the owls and the toads,
The crickets on the flowering quince.
In this night of magick, in this night of joy
We behold the Unicorn Prince.
“He is our future, the hope for our world,
He will take his place beside me,”
So spoke our Lord, King of the Stags
In this land that no man can see.

We rejoiced with excitement, we feasted so merrily!
As did the Unicorn King and his Queen.
The Unicorn child who did sleep by his mother
His soul still unscathed and pristine.
Our hearts filled with gladness for Unicorns live on!
The Prince of their kind has arrived!
Gone was the sadness, the fear of the thought
That the last of their breed will soon die.
And so the merriment faded; daylight approached us.
And I returned to my home in the sidhe.
My parents slept soundly, their wings tucked in comfort
In this land that no man can see.
I smiled at the memory, I will never forget
What this night of all nights meant to me.
My world is much safer, my Lord said it so
In this land that no man can see.
