Tarot Reading

Tarot cards are one of many forms of divination. They are commonly used to measure potential outcomes and evaluate influences surrounding a person, event, or both. The technical term for tarot reading is taromancy (divination through the use of tarot cards), which is a subsection of cartomancy (divination through cards in general).

Tea Leaves

“The art of reading tea leaves is referred to as tasseography and is a divination method that interprets patterns in tea leaves. The term also refers to the reading of coffee grounds, and has also been applied to the reading of wine sediments. Tea leaf reading is an ancient practice interpreting patterns made by tea leaves in the cup. Although tasseography is commonly associated with Gypsy fortunetellers, the tradition of tea leaf reading arises independently from Asia, the Middle East and Ancient Greece.” (Excerpt from http://www.crystalinks.com/tealeaves.html)

Lenormand (or French Cartomancy)

In 19th century Paris, there lived a fortune teller whose powers were so profound that she was called “The Sibyl of the Faubourg Saint-Germain”. Her name was Marie Lenormand and so powerful was she that she accurately predicted the rise and fall of French emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. Marie created a custom made deck of 36 cards that is so accurate in its readings that the French royalty at the time kept secret diaries of their own attempts at reading these cards.

Pendulums

A pendulum is usually a pointed object that is suspended on a string. The object can be made of almost anything, such as wood, glass, brass, etc. It is a simple device used to communicate with the divine, or the spirit world. They can be bought or home-made. It is mostly used to find missing objects although it is popular with energy healers who use the pendulum to determine what part of a person’s body need the most healing.

Geomancy

Geomancy is – simply put – earth magick. It is a method of divination that interprets markings on the earth. It is widely believed that geomancy first originated in the early Arabic society, although what information we have today came to us from the Middle Ages. This divination method is the practice of hitting the earth many times with a stick to create lines or points on the ground, then to read the patterns made on the earth and which determines the seeker’s answers.

I-Ching

The I-Ching is the oldest known form of divination used by the Chinese. “I Ching” is translated to “Book of Changes.” The I-Ching has 64 different hexagrams which means there are 64 different kinds of situations. Each hexagram has six lines, and they can be broken or unbroken. Each situation can stand alone as an answer to a seeker’s questions, or all 64 symbols may have the seeker’s answer.

Runes

A rune is a letter of an ancient Germanic alphabet which holds magickal meanings. Runes can be carved on engraved on small stones, pieces of wood, or bones, and used in divination. The legend states that runes were given to humans as a sacred gift. They were first given to Odin after he wounded himself and then hung himself from Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Like the I-Ching, runes are cast and each one can be “read” and used to divine.

Angel Card Readings

Those who are familiar with Angels know that are made up of pure energy and that energy is all love. It is widely believed that Angels were given one charge and one charge only and that is us – the people that live on Earth. Angels have been placed on our sides to guide us and protect us, and to ensure we, in turn, can give loving direction to the lost, the unhappy, and those broken in spirit. Visualization is very important to an Angel reader, so readings are done through Angel cards. Opal has several Angel decks to choose from and uses a deck according to the needs of each seeker. The Angel represented on the card is the Angel the reader channels for the seeker.

Unicorn Card Readings

Opal uses this method of divination mainly for those in their tween years – the young ones in our lives who are ready to move forward to their teen years, yet feel as though they are being held back by the adults in their lives, clinging to their childhood. Unicorn cards are made for compassionate and loving readings for tweens, and Opal can help guide them as they face the challenges of their teenage years.

Compassionate Readings for Tweens

Tween years are some of the most difficult that we experience in our lifetime. It is that age of “in-between” … when you feel like you’re ready to begin your life as a teen, but adults are hanging on to your childhood. Bring your tween to Opal for a Tarot, Angel or Unicorn reading. Opal can tap into their innermost thoughts and feelings with compassion, guide them to feel more secure and understood in their environment, and show them how to move forward as they approach their teen years. They will walk away knowing how to look back on their childhood with fond, loving memories, and to look to their future with excitement and anticipation.
